The Dreaded Party Question
🍸 Honestly, I used to dread the "party question" —> "So, what do you do?"
It's hard to explain what you do when you’re not sure why you do it.
I told myself that my role was uniquely hard to describe, especially to non-techie party guests. But, really, I just didn’t feel at home in my own work. 🎉
Can you articulate the *why* of your career - not just the how and what? Try completing this phrase:
I am a ___ who ____ for ____ so that ____.
For example:
"I am a technology expert..."
“…who develops innovative software..."
“…for colleges and universities around the world..."
“…so that learning can be more accessible and engaging for students everywhere."
Challenge yourself to dive deeper than job titles and responsibilities - and claim your expertise and impact. When you find meaning and connect with the essence of your work, it's always more interesting to talk about at parties…

---or job interviews 🎯
